Ocean Explorer Water Sports Hub, which is located in Water Sports and Recreation Precinct (Wan Chai), will bring diversified water sports experiences to the public. We provide water sports certificate courses for the public. With the certificate, residents are allowed to rent our equipment to enjoy the view of Victoria Harbour.


Activity (1) Board Rowing Course (Star 1) (Full Day)

Content:

In the board-rowing course, participants can learn basic rowing skills, how to install and adjust equipment and related safety guideline at a beginner level. The course content integrates traditional rowing with surfing principles and techniques.

Fee︰$550/person (Participant(s) are also separately charged $10 for handling fee to the online ticketing platform)

*If the class(es) is/are cancelled or rescheduled due to insufficient number of applicants, notification will be issued 14 days before the activity.
*Paper-copy certificate will be issued to those who completed the course and satisfy the standard. (No E-certificate will be provided).
*For any reason(s), applicants will be charged $50 for certificate reissuing.


Activity (2) SUP Beginner Program (Half Day)

Content:

Stand-up paddleboarding emphasizes balance and requires the use of a stand-up paddleboard paddle to assist in moving across the water. This activity incorporates techniques from sailing, surfing, and kayaking, with three main paddling methods: prone, kneeling, and standing.

Terms and Conditions:

Section A: Eligibility and Requirements

  1. Activity (1) Board Rowing Course (Star 1) (Full Day) is suitable for participants aged 11 or above. Activity (2) SUP Beginner Program (Half Day) is suitable for participants aged 12 or above.
  2. The registration fee for those who do not qualify will not be refunded. Participants under 18 must have a consent form from a parent or guardian.
  3. Water activities require a certain level of physical fitness. For the health and safety of participants, the organizer recommends that participants understand their own physical condition and suitability for participation before joining the activity. Participants aged 65 or above and those with chronic illnesses should consult a doctor first, and bring any necessary medications. Participants should also fill out the medical history section on the enrolment form.
  4. The organizer does not recommend participation for individuals who have experienced any of the following conditions within 24 hours prior to the activity, including but not limited to fever, cough, flu/cold, nausea, diarrhoea, vomiting, rash, skin disease, heart disease, lung disease, haemophilia, epilepsy, dizziness/fainting/loss of consciousness when exposed to animals, fear of animals or water, or immunodeficiency.
  5. Participants must be able to swim and swim at least 50 meters while fully clothed.
  6. Participants infected with any communicable disease listed in the First Schedule of the Prevention and Control of Disease Ordinance (Cap. 599) (note1) are not allowed to participate.
  7. If the organizer observes that a participant's health condition is unsuitable for training or exhibits symptoms of a communicable disease, such as fever, respiratory symptoms (e.g., cough, runny nose, sore throat), red eyes, rash, or skin lesions, the organizer has the right to terminate the participant's training for safety reasons.
  8. Participants who are unwell should stay at home to rest, in order to protect the safety of all participants. If necessary, the organizer may also request unwell participants to leave the activity during the event.
  9. If a participant engages in behaviour that poses a danger or disturbance to themselves or others, or fails to follow the instructions of the organizer, the organizer may request the participant to leave, and the parent/guardian (note2) must be responsible for the participant's safety and behaviour. The organizer will not compensate any participants who are asked to leave due to behavioural issues.
  10. If the organizer considers participants are acting unacceptably, including but not limited to causing nuisance to other participants during the activity, inflicting bodily harm to others, using any language(s) or action(s) likely to cause offence or annoyance to others, behaving indecently, breaching the laws of Hong Kong etc., the Organizer has the right to ask the participants to withdraw from the activity immediately.
  11. Participants must comply with all venue rules and safety regulations.
  12. Participants are responsible for compensating the organizer for any loss or damage to the organizer property during the activity.
  13. Participants shall quickly evacuate the activity venue under the instruction of the organizer in case of an emergency.
  14. During the activities, participants shall follow the organizer instructions and do not leave without notification.
  15. The organizer reserves the final right to determine the suitability of any participant for the activity, and may refuse the participation of any person to ensure safety or order.
  16. If the weather and sea conditions are poor during the activity, the organizer has the absolute authority to request participants to return, suspend or cancel the water activities.

Note 1: The meaning of "guardian" is the same as in the Guardianship of Minors Ordinance.

Section B: Basic Terms and Registration Instructions

  1. Participants must arrive at the designated meeting place on time. Please refer to the map, late arrivals will not be accommodated.
  2. Participants must present the original or a copy of the identity document used for registration to verify their identity on the day of the activity. For participants under the age of 18, a parent consent form must be filled out on the day of the activity, otherwise the organizer reserves the right to refuse their participation in the water activities.
  3. Once registration is confirmed, participants cannot change the registered name, and the activity quota cannot be transferred.
  4. The activity will be conducted in Cantonese.
  5. Participants are advised to wear lightweight clothing suitable for water sports, bring sufficient drinking water, hats, toiletries, spare clothes, sunscreen, and rain gear.
  6. Participants must wear standard life jackets or buoyancy aids and closed-toe water shoes (slippers or sandals without ankle protection are not allowed) during the activity. Wear suitable swimwear, swim trunks, sun hats, light and breathable long sleeve tops.
  7. The activity venue may not have enough lockers to store personal belongings, participants should take care of their own belongings and avoid bringing valuables to the venue. The organizer will not be responsible for any lost property or any kind of loss or damage.
  8. There is no parking space at the event venue. Participants are recommended to take public transportation to the event destination. 
  9. The organizer will not be liable or responsible for any property and/or any kind of loss or damage of the participants.
  10. The activity will be held at sea, if participants are prone to seasickness or feeling unwell, please bring your own medication. The organizer will not provide any medication for participants.
  11. If skin irritation, eye discomfort, coughing, breathing difficulties or other physical discomfort occurs after the activity, participants should seek medical attention immediately.
  12. If the activity is cancelled due to inclement weather or other special circumstances (such as emergency maintenance of equipment or venue), the organizer will notify the affected participants about the arrangements (Please refer to the adverse weather arrangement); other personal reasons will not be accepted for rescheduling.
  13. All activity schedules or content are subject to ad hoc and necessary changes without prior notice.
  14. Organizer is entitled to take photographs, videos or audio-record of the activity. Participants’ presence at the activity will constitute consent to public display or promotional usage of such photo(s), image(s), audio(s) and video(s) taken in any formats via any communication channels of the Organizer, without any prior notice or any form of remuneration.
  15. If there are any changes or disputes regarding the activity, the organization reserves the final right, and participants shall not object.
