What does a conductor actually do? This is a perpetual mystery to many – and one which even orchestral musicians might struggle to explain. ‎Do conductors just count the bars? Or are they the soul of the music? How do they communicate with the musicians? How do they understand the ideas in the composers’ minds (especially if they are not around anymore)? Let’s ask Hong Kong Sinfonietta’s Music Director Emeritus Yip Wing-sie, and clarify everything once and for all through the masterpieces of Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Bernstein, Weber and more!
