Jardine House (formerly Connaught Centre) has stood in Central for over 50 years. In the district filled with glass-covered skyscrapers, Jardine House is uniquely different. Its white outer walls and round windows are signature staples of the building. This design is not purely aesthetic; architects hoped to reduce the number of support beams in order to maximise the use of space. The streamlined round windows allow structural loads to be more effectively directed towards the ground along the structural facade, displaying the breadth of scientific knowledge applied in the design.
