1. Mountains, Seas, Panorama

Director: Wilfred WONG
Choreographer: BLUE Ka-wing
Hong Kong, 2020, 21 mins

“Kua-fu chases after the sun. He feels thirsty when he gets close to the sun, so he quickly drinks all the water in the Yellow and Wei rivers, and even the large lake in the North when he is not satisfied. Before he arrives, he dies of thirst. After death, his cane turns into a forest of peach trees.”*
Migrating from place to place, our hearts rest in peace whenever there are spirits.
* from the ancient Chinese folk tale, Kua-fu Chases after the Sun in Scripture of Mountain and Sea

2. A Rock

Director: Shing LEE
Hong Kong / Philippines, 2020, 10 mins

A man contemplates his struggle with nature. Meanwhile, voices keep him alive, no matter how hard he tries to be a rock.

3. Over Here?

Director, Scriptwriter & Choreographer: Zelia ZZ TAN
Hong Kong, 2020, 10 mins

In a city, people are flowing ceaselessly, like a river. She wants to speak... but she can’t find the right words.
Mask, no, it can be touched. It can be worn on everyone’s face.
Crossing the overpass, drifting around the corners of the world, she and he step into a rapidly changing dream. They wait at the airport, watching the surge of time and space.
Can a spoon catch all the tears? It stays on the spine and reflects light.
The harmonica is played again and again. Waves reach the coast in slow motion.
What is “Flow”? What is “Moving”?

4. Maze

Director: Maurice LAI
Co-Choreographer:CHOW Pui-wan, Pewan, Rosalind NEWMAN
Hong Kong, 2020, 48 mins

The audience is led on a paradoxical journey from the theater to a heritage site of Nam Fung Cotton Mills (now known as The Mills). Seeped in traces of history, this journey becomes a moving maze; a reflection on the obstacles explored in life.

Maze, the critically-acclaimed production co-choreographed by Pewan Chow, Artistic Director of Passoverdance, and Rosalind Newman, guest choreographer, first premiered in 2012 to sold out theatres. The production was later invited to showcase at Guangdong Dance Festival and went on to be awarded the 2013 Hong Kong Dance Awards for Outstanding Independent Dance Production and Outstanding Lighting and Set Design for Dance.
Chow and Newman took the original production and continued the journey with Maze: Pushing Boundaries in 2018 offering audiences alternative perspectives. Chow has further transformed this work into a dance film through a collaboration with renowned dance video director Maurice Lai. Audiences can now experience and appreciate the work in montage.

CCDC Digital Dance Season - Jumping Frames International Dance Video Festival "Local Focus" online streaming adjusted the screening time due to technical issues.

We experienced a technical problem in the film "Mountains, Seas, Panorama" as part of the programme on 3 September streaming due to delays between image and sound for film compression. Thanks to the efforts made by collaborators, we resolved this issue and the new film is now uploading to POPTICKET website for a better viewing experience.
