The Original London West End Production of Life of Pi Embarks on Its First Tour in China!
Adapted from the internationally bestselling novel, which has sold over 15 million copies worldwide, and following the success of Ang Lee’s Oscar-winning film, the original London West End stage production of Life of Pi is coming to China for the first time! This visually stunning and deeply philosophical production brings the beloved story to life on stage, leaping from the pages of the book and the silver screen into a breathtaking theatrical experience.
The story follows Pi, a young boy from India who survives a shipwreck that claims the lives of his entire family. His only companion in the vast ocean is a Bengal tiger named Richard Parker. Over 227 days of solitude and peril, Pi and the fierce predator maintain a delicate coexistence, navigating the meaning of survival while challenging human perceptions of faith and truth.
With powerful visual storytelling, including stormy seas, glowing night skies, and cutting-edge projection technology, the stage seamlessly transforms into a “flowing Pacific Ocean.” Meanwhile, the awe-inspiring Richard Parker—a breathing, lifelike Bengal tiger—awakens before the audience’s eyes. This production’s innovative puppetry and groundbreaking stage techniques have earned widespread acclaim from both industry professionals and audiences alike.
Since its premiere in 2019, Life of Pi has received global recognition, winning five Laurence Olivier Awards, including a historic first for a puppeteer, three Tony Awards, five UK Theatre Awards, and the WhatsOnStage Award for Best New Play. More than just a technical revolution in theater, it is a true stage miracle!
We invite you to embark on an extraordinary journey filled with wonder and imagination. Don’t miss the chance to witness this theatrical masterpiece live!
