Hong Kong Sinfonietta & French May Arts Festival: Cellomania with Jamal Aliyev
Music Director Emeritus/Conductor: Yip Wing-sie
Cello: Jamal Aliyev
One of Classic FM’s “30 of the most brilliant young classical musicians playing today”, cellist Jamal Aliyev has dazzled with his “enviable technique and a rich broad palette” (Classical Music Magazine) in performances alongside such prestigious orchestras as the Philharmonia Orchestra and City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, and enjoyed recurring collaborations with leading Turkish composer Fazıl Say. This French May, Aliyev will join hands with Hong Kong Sinfonietta and Music Director Emeritus Yip Wing-sie for the first time, playing an eclectic selection of showpieces such as Paganini’s mesmerising Variations on One String on a Theme by Rossini, and Popper’s stunning Hungarian Rhapsody.
