**This programme replaces the original programme for “HKS Recital Series: Duo Recital by Edgar & Jérémie Moreau”, as pianist Jérémie Moreau is now unable to come to Hong Kong.**
Widely regarded today as some of the most iconic and influential works for the cello since its serendipitous discovery by the legendary cellist Pablo Casals, Bach’s Cello Suites have stood as a constant in the waves of cello repertoire which have come after, putting to test not only the technical prowess of generations of cellists, but also their understanding of its incredible textural complexities and emotional depth. In this recital, French cellist Edgar Moreau – crowned “Instrumental Soloist of the Year” at the 2015 Victoires de la Musique Classique when he was aged just 21, whose phenomenal rise to success stands testament to his peerless mastery and command of the instrument – will present his exquisite interpretation of the first three Suites.
