Jockey Club Musicus Heritage Stories: The Art of Rejuvenation
This May, the “Jockey Club Musicus Heritage Stories” series invited the English Chamber Orchestra (ECO) from London, to perform heritage concerts at Tai Kwun. John Mills, Concertmaster of ECO, will join Musicus Artistic Director and cellist Trey Lee and three members of the Musicus Soloists Hong Kong in a series of free chamber concerts.
Tai Kwun is a fitting concert venue for ECO to perform, given that Benjamin Britten, the Orchestra’s first Patron, oversaw a similar revival project of converting a former Victorian malt house into a concert hall. Moreover, it echoes Musicus Heritage’s spirit of infusing heritage venues with thematic programs and placing music in context.
For The Art of Rejuvenation, Musicus has invited Hong Kong new media artist Phoebe Hui to create a new artwork. She has upcycled stepper motors from everyday devices, and transformed musical inputs into visual representations that celebrate the intersection of the old and the new.

Moderator: Shing Chun-hei
Duration of each chamber concert is approximately 30 minutes, without intermission. A post-concert Heritage Guided Tour in Cantonese is held after each performance (Separate registration is required, limited availability).
